Graduate Programme in Mathematics by Research

Programme Structure

Students enrolled in the Graduate Programme will pursue a rigorous course of study and research leading to a Ph.D. degree or a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree. Admission is on a competitive basis and preference is given to applicants who intend to pursue a Ph.D. degree.

Applicants to the programme may apply for NUS Research Scholarship or other forms of financial assistance when applying for admission. Majority of the Department's current full-time graduate students are given financial support.

Candidates admitted to the this programme will have the opportunity to study and do mathematical research under the guidance and supervision of the faculty members of the Department, whose research interests cover most core areas of mathematics. Graduate students are encouraged to attend and participate in the departmental seminars which are held regularly throughout the academic year. They will also have ample opportunities to interact with the numerous visiting mathematicians from overseas institutions.
