Low Dimensional Topology, Teichmueller Theory and Kleinian Groups

(Abstract)

We will start with a brief survey of some of the recent (last 5 years or so) results in low dimensional topology and Kleinian groups, including the resolution of several long standing conjectures of Ahlfors, Marden, Thurston and Bers-Sullivan-Thurston. We will move on to some other recent results and promising new directions of research with connections to mathematical physics, dynamical systems and algebraic geometry.
